If you’re in Bali and craving some delicious seblak, you gotta check out Seblak Gorilla & Baso Aci Bandung located on Jalan Puri Gading in Jimbaran. I recently dropped by for dinner and let me tell you, it was quite the experience!

First off, the food gets a solid 4.5 out of 5. I ordered the Paket 2, which comes with Seblak Spesial Lengkap and a refreshing Teh Pucuk, along with some Lumpia Basah Ori and Seblak Spesial Ceker. Everything was super tasty! Seriously, one reviewer said, “Out of all the seblak in Bali, this one is really good!” And I couldn’t agree more. The flavors were on point, though I wish they had a bit more veggies in the mix. But hey, the spices were just right!

Now, the service was a bit of a mixed bag, scoring only 3.2 out of 5. It wasn’t terrible, but it could definitely use some improvement. The atmosphere was cozy enough, with a score of 3.4 out of 5, but it’s not the kind of place you’d want to linger for hours. For dinner, I decided to go all out and ordered a few things: Paket 2 (Special Complete Seblak + Teh Pucuk), Lumpia Basah Ori, and Seblak Special Ceker. Honestly, everything was delicious! One reviewer mentioned, “The kencur (aromatic ginger) was quite noticeable, the spiciness was just right, but the vegetable toppings weren’t free, right? I tried buying seblak at a few places and they didn’t have veggies. Usually, in Java, seblak comes with crackers, eggs, veggies, and noodles, and you only pay extra for additional toppings. I requested it to be soupy, but when it arrived, it was totally out of broth, and my extra toppings weren’t cooked even though I noted that they should be. The seblak was a bit salty. Normally, the taste is just right, but maybe the chef had a lot on their mind. Out of all the seblak places in Bali, this one is super tasty!

But, oh boy, the service was a letdown. One customer shared their frustration saying, “The service was super disappointing! I waited 30 minutes for my food. The worst part was when I came with 7 friends, and they were on break. I asked when they’d be back, and they said about 40 minutes. I was already so disappointed but decided to wait, thinking they’d realize there were a lot of customers and start working. But nope! Just as we were about to leave, around 8 staff members showed up, and then 2 more came to the cashier. I thought they’d open up since it was getting busy, but when I got to the cashier, the girl said they weren’t open yet. Seriously? They had 4 staff members, so why not stagger the breaks? It’s just unprofessional. How can you run a business like this?”

Another review echoed the sentiment, “The food is good, but the service is just terrible! My food took an hour and a half to come out. By then, I lost my appetite, and the staff were pretty rude. Please, improve the service!”

Despite the service hiccups, I really enjoyed the food and the cozy vibe of the place. If you’re a fan of spicy food, I’d definitely recommend checking it out. I think I’d come back again if I find myself in Bali. Just gotta keep my expectations in check when it comes to service!
