If you’re ever in Canggu, Bali, you might want to check out Lalapan Ibu Yani. It’s tucked away on Jl. Semat Raya, Gang Jalak 10 No. 10 A, and while it’s not a five-star dining experience, it has its charm. The food scores a decent 3.7/5.0, but the service and atmosphere are a bit on the lower side, both sitting at 3.0/5.0. I went there for dinner, and the price per person is pretty wallet-friendly, around Rp50,000-75,000.

I ordered a few dishes like Ice Tea, Nasi Tempong Sambel Ijo, and Lalapan Mujaer Goreng Sambel Ijo. Honestly, everything was tasty! The fish was well-seasoned, and the sambal was on point. However, I did notice some folks mentioning that the wait time can be a bit long. One reviewer said, “Sometimes it takes up to an hour before Gojek even starts moving. 45 minutes before the driver finally gets going. Wow, it seems like it takes even longer during the day!”

Another person mentioned, “The fish is delicious, and the spices really soak in. But the rice was a bit too dry, so we ordered without it. I suggest adding some basil; that would be awesome!” And I totally agree, the mujaer here is a must-try!

While I was there, I also came across some other reviews. One person said, “I ordered on Grab. Giving them the benefit of the doubt on service and atmosphere, but I did love the food. The sambal matah they make is super flavorful and really good and spicy. I had this sambal on their ayam geprek (fried pressed chicken) and on their duck. I’ll go and try more food here soon.”

However, not everyone had a great experience. Another reviewer expressed disappointment, saying, “We ordered mie goreng with a leg or breast of ayam… NO AYAM received and we ordered 2 of them, so we paid 800k IDR for noodles with nothing.
