Kwetiau Beras 88, Food Centre
Damar
Hey there! So, I recently checked out this diner called Kwetiaw Beras 88 located at Food Centre, Jl. Raya Kuta No.59 in Kuta, Bali. Let me tell you, it was quite an experience! The food there gets a solid 3.5 out of 5, and the service was pretty good at 4.0. The atmosphere, though? A bit lacking at 2.5, but hey, it’s a food court vibe, so you can’t expect too much.
I went there for dinner, and the prices were around Rp225,000-250,000 per person, which is a bit on the higher side for a casual spot. But if you’re just grabbing lunch, it’s way more affordable at Rp25,000-50,000. They’ve got plenty of parking, and it’s free, which is a plus!
Now, onto the food! I ordered a few dishes: Kwetiau Goreng Lengkap, Kwetiaw Goreng Telur, and Bihun Goreng Lengkap. All of them were delicious! I even came across a review that said, “please send pizza, I like pizza rice on pizza.” ?? And honestly, the portions for takeout were just as generous as dining in, which is awesome. Everything tasted just right, and I appreciated that they followed my notes for the order. Thanks for that!
However, I did see some mixed reviews from other visitors. One person mentioned, “Food is overrated. One of the worst food I had in Bali. It’s expensive and unhygienic. There was a rat running across at the ceiling of the food store.” Yikes! They also complained about only accepting cards and feeling like it was a tourist trap. Not cool!
On the flip side, another guest said, “Their kwetiau siram was quite good, but it was of a different style. Instead of gooey gravy, it was served with something more watery.” And someone else raved, “This is it! This is the taste of home I’ve been craving for. Their stir fry is very Sumatran style and instead of wet like most stir fry, they do it dry and smoky, giving it a unique taste.” Sounds like a hit or miss, right?
Overall, if you’re looking for local food at local prices, Kwetiaw Beras 88 might just be the spot for you. The kueyteow was delicious, and it really had that Medan taste. I’d definitely come back here if I find myself in Bali again!

Stepping into Kwetiau Beras 88 at the Food Centre in Bali feels like a warm embrace from the past, a nostalgic journey back to childhood memories filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals. The ambiance is casual yet inviting, reminiscent of family gatherings and festive holidays. Here, every dish tells a story, and the flavors are a delightful reminder of the love and care that goes into cooking.
The star of the menu, the fried rice noodle, is nothing short of a revelation. Its fragrant aroma wafts through the air, enticing you to take that first bite. As one satisfied customer put it, “The fried rice noodle is very fragrant. Taste so delicious.” Each mouthful is a burst of flavor, transporting you to a place where food is not just sustenance but a celebration of culture and tradition. And let’s not forget the sate—an absolute must-try that adds a delightful twist to your meal.
While some dishes, like the sweet and sour fish, may have their quirks—“a little on the watery side”—the overall experience is undeniably satisfying. The prices are incredibly reasonable, making it easy to indulge in a feast without breaking the bank. As another patron noted, “Delicious food for great prices. Very filling.” It’s a place where you can enjoy a hearty meal without the guilt of overspending.
For those who crave a taste of Medanese cuisine, Kwetiau Beras 88 delivers with authenticity. The kueyteow is praised for its superb taste, capturing the essence of local flavors. “Feels so Medan taste but it’s superb,” one reviewer exclaimed, highlighting the restaurant’s commitment to providing a genuine culinary experience. The variety of options, from bakmi to sate padang, ensures that there’s something for everyone, making it a perfect spot to hang out with friends or family.
However, it’s worth noting that attention to detail is essential, especially for takeaway orders. One customer advised, “If you order takeaway, better you check first before you go.” It’s a gentle reminder that while the food is delightful, a little extra care can enhance the experience even further.
In the end, Kwetiau Beras 88 is more than just a restaurant; it’s a heartfelt reminder of the simple joys of eating together. The flavors, the atmosphere, and the memories created here resonate deeply, making it a place you’ll want to return to time and again. As I reflect on my visit, I can’t help but feel grateful for the warmth and comfort this diner brings, a true gem in the heart of Bali that touches the soul.
