Warung Men Runtu, Sanur
Azura
If you’re ever in Sanur, Bali, you absolutely have to check out Warung Men Runtu! This place is a total hidden gem, and I can’t stop raving about it. The food is rated 4.8 out of 5, and honestly, it deserves every bit of that score. The service? A perfect 5.0! The atmosphere is chill, sitting at around 4.2, which is pretty good for a casual spot like this.
So, I decided to try a few dishes during my visit. I ordered the Rujak Kuah Pindang (without sugar), Rujak Kuah Pindang with sugar, and Bulung Boni Kuah Pindang. Let me tell you, everything was delicious! Seriously, it was “enak seperti biasanya” (delicious as usual). The portions were generous, and I was never bored shopping at Men Runtu—”IS THE BEST!!!” And if you get the mango when it’s sour, it’s definitely a winner!
Other visitors have shared their love for this place too. One person said, “It is a hidden gem in Sanur! They sell traditional tipat cantok, bulung, and rujak. All is tasty, with ice daluman. Staffs are friendly, quite reasonable price, fast preparation, and clean. You can enjoy the vibes and calm eating under the big tree also.” How cool is that?
Another first-timer mentioned, “Surprisingly very nice place, affordable price with high quality. Also service excellence. I eat rujak kuah pindang without sugar, plecing kangkung and toge, rujak bulung kuah pindang, everything’s very recommended.” Sounds like a must-try, right?
One review caught my eye too: “I visited this place to try the rujak with fish soup, and it did not disappoint. The dish was delicious, with a perfect blend of sweet, salty, and savory flavors.” They even mentioned how the waitress asked about the spice level, which is super helpful! Just a heads up, one person did find a dead fly in their rujak, which is a bummer, but it seems like that was a rare mishap.
Oh, and don’t forget to try the green caviar (seaweed)! It’s super delicious, and the various types of Rujak are a must-try!
All in all, I can’t wait to go back to Warung Men Runtu the next time I’m in Bali. It’s just that good!

Warung Men Runtu, nestled in the vibrant Sanur area of Bali, offers a delightful culinary experience that captures the essence of traditional Balinese cuisine. With a menu that can be a bit tricky to navigate for non-locals, it’s highly recommended to dine with a local to truly appreciate the best offerings. The restaurant is known for its home-cooked style dishes that are served fresh and quickly, making it a perfect spot for a casual lunch.
One of the standout dishes is the Rujak Kuah Pindang, available in both sugar-free and sweetened versions. This refreshing fruit salad, combined with a spicy sauce, is a must-try, but be cautious of the spice levels! The restaurant also offers a variety of local snacks and drinks that are perfect for cooling down on a hot day. The Ice Daluman, a refreshing grass jelly drink with coconut milk and palm sugar, is particularly popular among patrons, as well as the freshly squeezed orange juice (Es Jeruk) and the mixed ice dessert (Es Campur).
Many visitors rave about the freshness and deliciousness of the dishes, often highlighting the seaweed salad and the peanut/green beans/rice cakes dish as favorites. The local prices make it an attractive option for both tourists and locals alike, with meals typically ranging from Rp25,000 to Rp50,000 per person.
While the atmosphere may not be luxurious—lacking air conditioning and occasionally attracting flies due to the sweet and spicy dishes—the experience of enjoying authentic Balinese flavors in a homey setting is well worth it. With a food rating of 4.8/5.0 and a perfect service score of 5.0/5.0, Warung Men Runtu is a culinary gem that should not be missed when visiting Bali.
