Babi Guling Melem, Jalan Gunung Batur Pemecutan

If you’re ever in the Pemecutan area, you absolutely have to check out Babi Guling Melem on Jalan Gunung Batur. Seriously, this place is a gem! With a solid food rating of 4.3/5.0 and an impressive service score of 4.7/5.0, you know you’re in for a treat. The atmosphere is a bit chill at 3.7/5.0, but hey, it’s all about the food, right?
So, I decided to dive into a few dishes: Nasi Babi Guling Biasa, Nasi Babi Guling Melem Special, and Nasi Babi Guling Special. Let me tell you, every single one was delicious! I mean, I enjoyed every bit of it! It’s definitely recommended. The flavors were on point, and I felt like a satisfied customer being able to choose my favorite dishes. It was enaaaaak bangettt nget nget!
Other visitors seem to agree too! One person said, “the best baby guling eveeeerrrr… very cheap and sooo delicious.. open from 6 pm till sold out. must try!” And I couldn’t agree more! The staff were super friendly, and the food was just gas, no kizzy.
However, I did come across a mixed review. Someone mentioned that they loved it the first time they visited, enjoying the juicy meat and crispy skin, but were disappointed when they returned to find the lawar had changed to a sweeter recipe. They felt that lawar should be fresh, salty, and spicy, which is totally fair. But hey, that’s the risk of trying new things, right?
Overall, the taste was good, juicy, and the prices were affordable. I’ll definitely be back to Babi Guling Melem next time I’m in Bali. Can’t wait to dig in again!

As I stepped into Babi Guling Melem on Jalan Gunung Batur Pemecutan, I was immediately enveloped by the warm, inviting atmosphere that felt like a nostalgic embrace from my childhood. The aroma of spices wafted through the air, igniting memories of family gatherings and my mother’s home-cooked meals. This place is not just a restaurant; it’s a portal to the past, where every bite tells a story.
The menu is simple yet bursting with flavors that make you smile. The standout dish, of course, is the Babi Guling, which features juicy meat and crispy skin that is simply divine. The Balinese lawar, with its myriad of variations, is a must-try. It’s a delightful explosion of taste that complements the main dish perfectly. One reviewer aptly described it as “one of the best meals I’ve had in Bali!” and I couldn’t agree more.
The staff here are incredibly friendly, making you feel right at home. They serve the food with a smile, and you can tell they take pride in what they do. “The food is gas, no kizzy,” one patron exclaimed, and it’s hard to argue with that sentiment. The flavors are genuine, and the prices are friendly, making it accessible for everyone.
However, my heart sank when I returned months later to find that the recipe had changed. The lawar, which was once fresh, salty, and spicy, had been sweetened with sugar for preservation. This alteration was a significant letdown for me, as lawar should retain its authentic taste. “Will I come back? I don’t know if I should… so disappointing,” echoed my thoughts. It’s a bittersweet feeling when a beloved dish transforms into something unrecognizable.
Despite this setback, I still cherish the memories created at Babi Guling Melem. The juicy meat and affordable prices remind me of the joy of sharing meals with loved ones. It’s a place that touches the heart, evoking emotions tied to family and tradition. I hope they return to their roots, but regardless, the experience has left an indelible mark on my culinary journey in Bali.
