Bima

Stepping into Depot Candra in Sesetan, Bali, feels like a warm embrace from the past. The moment you enter, the familiar aroma of authentic Chinese cuisine envelops you, transporting you back to cherished childhood memories of family gatherings and home-cooked meals. This restaurant is not just a place to eat; it’s a nostalgic journey that resonates deeply within the heart.

As I peruse the menu, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement. The reviews echo in my mind: “Highly Recommended! The food is fantastic. Affordable Chinese food in the town. My favorite: Fried Fish with Soy Sauce & Black Pepper Chicken.” The anticipation builds as I order these dishes, eager to relive those flavors that once brought joy to my family table.

The first bite of the Fried Fish with Soy Sauce is nothing short of magical. The fish is perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, drizzled with a savory soy sauce that dances on my palate. It’s a taste that feels like home, reminiscent of my mother’s cooking. The Black Pepper Chicken follows suit, bursting with flavor and a hint of spice that ignites my senses. It’s a reminder of the simple yet profound joy that food can bring.

“Good option for Chinese food at Sesetan,” I recall another review, and it couldn’t be more accurate. The prices are reasonable, making it accessible for everyone to enjoy this culinary delight. The steamed fish and fried rice are also highly recommended, and I can see why. The portions are generous, enough to satisfy even the heartiest of appetites, and the flavors are simply divine.

One of the highlights of my visit is the Butter Fried Chicken and Salted Egg Bitter Melon, which I’ve heard so much about. “Always love to come again and again,” a fellow diner had said, and I understand why. These dishes are a must-try, and I find myself savoring every bite, feeling grateful for the experience. The Butter Fried Chicken is rich and indulgent, while the Salted Egg Bitter Melon offers a unique twist that is both comforting and exciting.

As I sit back, reflecting on my meal, I can’t help but feel a sense of warmth and contentment. The food at Depot Candra is not just about sustenance; it’s about connection, nostalgia, and the joy of sharing a meal with loved ones. It’s a place that touches the heart, reminding us of the simple pleasures in life. I leave with a full stomach and an even fuller heart, knowing that I will return to this little haven of culinary delight again and again.

Laras

If you’re cruising around Denpasar, Bali, and you’re in the mood for some delicious Chinese food, you gotta check out Depot Chandra on Jl. Sesetan Raya. Seriously, this place is a gem! With a solid rating of 5.0 for food, you know you’re in for a treat.

First off, let’s talk about the food. The menu is packed with mouth-watering options, but you absolutely can’t miss the Soup Jagung Kepiting (Crab Corn Soup) and the Ayam Goreng Mentega (Butter Fried Chicken). The soup is super flavorful, and the chicken? Oh man, it’s crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a savory, buttery sauce that has just the right hint of sweetness. One customer even said, “Ayam goreng mentega is the best so far!” and I totally agree!

Another highlight is the Nasi Putih (White Rice), which pairs perfectly with all the dishes. And if you’re feeling adventurous, try the Capcay Seafood, although one reviewer mentioned it was a bit lacking in seafood. But hey, the rest of the menu more than makes up for it!

The atmosphere is chill, rated at 4.0, making it a great spot for a casual dinner. The service is pretty good too, with a 4.7 rating. Most diners seem to be happy with the staff, and it’s a nice place to unwind after a long day of exploring.

One couple mentioned they come here at least once a week, raving about the Buncis Telur Asin (Salted Egg Beans) as a must-try. And with prices ranging from Rp50,000-75,000 per person, it’s super affordable for the quality you get. You can easily share dishes, as the portions are generous enough for three people!

Another diner was pleasantly surprised by the Black Pepper Squid and Sweet Sour Fish, saying the squid was tender and the fish was fresh and crispy. Sounds like a winner to me!

All in all, if you’re in Bali and craving some Chinese food, Depot Chandra is definitely worth a visit. I know I’ll be coming back for more of that amazing Ayam Goreng Mentega and Soup Jagung Kepiting next time I’m in town!
